South Solok, West Sumatra - 21 September 2012. On this day, PT Supreme Energy Muara Laboh   (SEML) did the First Exploration Well Drilling ML-A1 Mining Working Area Liki Pinangawan Muaralaboh located at Nagari Alam Pauh Duo, Pauh Duo District South Solok regency, West Sumatra. Well Drilling ML-A1 is a series of 4-6 drilling exploration wells in the Mining Working Area to prove that the existence of geothermal resources is sufficient to build a geothermal project of 220 MW. For the duration of the drilling exploration ranged between 6 to 9 months.

The first drilling exploration of ML-A1 well was attended by Vice Governor of West Sumatraalong with his officials, South Solok Regent along with his officials, Directorate General of EBTKE, Directorate General of Electricity, President Director of PT PLN (Persero),and President & CEO of  SEML Supramu Santosa, Prior to the drilling exploration conducted, SEML had done a preliminary survey, and a very comprehensive study that was followed by the construction of roads and construction of the well site as needed. If this exploration drilling succeeds as expected, then it will be followed by a feasibility study, an engineering design and a tender for the construction of production facilities,  and production of well drilling. The construction is expected to begin in early 2014 and to be completed in 2016. The electricity generated by geothermal project will be channeled to PT PLN (Persero) based on a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for 30 years.

Muara Laboh Geothermal Project is a National Project, and is a part of the 10,000 MW Power Plant Acceleration Development Program Phase II based on Presidential Regulation No. 4 in 2010 jo regulation no 48 of 2011. Muara Laboh geothermal project is expected to be in commercial operation in 2016.

In the implementation of this project, SEML fully appreciates the support given by provincial government of West Sumatra, South Solok Regency government and West Sumatera community which has made it possible for the activities to run smoothly. The project has been running well also because SEML always maintains and establishes an intensive communication with local government and communities through awareness socialization conducted periodically.
