PT. Supreme Energy Muara Laboh starts Commercial Operation for Muara Laboh Geothermal Power Plant Development

Jakarta, 16 December 2019.

PT. Supreme Energy Muara Laboh (SEML), a joint venture of PT. Supreme Energy, ENGIE and Sumitomo Corp, announced today the commercial operation of Stage-1 Muara Laboh Geothermal Power Generation located in Solok Selatan Regency, West Sumatra Province. The power generation has the capacity of 85 MW net. The electricity will be supplied to PLN Sumatra grid to be able to distribute electricity for 340,000 households.

PT. Supreme Energy started the preliminary study in 2008, signed the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) in 2012 and started with exploration activities immediately. Total investment for this Stage-1 development is USD 580 million. PT. Supreme Energy is currently also in discussion with PLN and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for the development of another 65 MW Geothermal Power Generation at the same area. This Stage-2 development will require an investment of USD 400 million and will be started immediately upon the conclusion of the PPA discussion.

Supreme Energy and its international partners towards the development of Geothermal Energy in Indonesia to support the Government of Indonesia achieving 2025 energy mix objective. We appreciate the continued supports from the Government, PLN and Solok Selatan community especially during the exploration and development.” the Chairman of PT. Supreme Energy, Mr. Supramu Santosa said.

Currently, PT. Supreme Energy is also constructing 90 MW Geothermal Power Generation Project by PT. Supreme Energy Rantau Dedap (SERD), in South Sumatra Province, which is scheduled to be completed in the end of 2020. To complete this project, SERD will invest around USD 700 million. Through PT. Supreme Energy Rajabasa (SERB), PT. Supreme Energy is also preparing the exploration program for Gunung Rajabasa Working Area located in South Lampung Region. The exploration will commence as soon the PPA extension with PLN is concluded.

SEML and SERB are Joint Venture Companies consisting of PT. Supreme Energy, ENGIE of French and Sumitomo Corp. of Japan, while SERD is a joint venture of PT. Supreme Energy, ENGIE, Marubeni Corp. of Japan and Tohoku Electric Power of Japan.
