In 2014, SERB focused on engineering design related to the construction of the jetty, piping systems, seawater facilities, pumping facilities, and power generator supply facilities. SERB proactively carried out social and legal engagement efforts to improve the situation and conditions on site. The jetty construction commenced in early 2015 and was completed by the end of 2015.
Infrastructure works in 2019 focused on the restoration of assets affected by the Sunda Strait tsunami that occurred at the end of 2018. In August 2019, SERB received notification of the approval for the implementation of insurance claims from the relevant parties and conducted engineering assessments and structural surveys of the existing facilities. SERB appointed a contractor to carry out asset recovery activities, including the dedicated terminal (jetty) and its supporting facilities. Construction activities in the jetty reconstruction area and debris removal began in September 2019, with an estimated completion period of seven (7) months. Exploration activities were planned to commence following the signing of the amended Power Purchase Agreement.
In early 2021, SERB sought opportunities to utilize the Geothermal Fund under the Geothermal Resource Risk Mitigation (GREM) program in collaboration with PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (Persero) to finance the exploration phase. The Geothermal Resource Risk Mitigation (GREM) program was implemented to accelerate renewable energy development in Indonesia and promote sustainable development in the energy sector.
Throughout 2022, the pre-exploration phase was initiated. The existing Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with PLN (Persero) remained in effect, with a temporary one (1) year deferment of geothermal exploration activities granted. In December 2022, a series of SQUID TEM surveys were conducted.
